What is The PBX® method?

The Method

The PBX® Method blends modern Pilates, yoga, barre, and weight training, perfect for all skill levels from beginners to the most experienced clients. Our motivational instructors push everyone to reach their personal fitness goals through one-on-one attention made possible with limited class sizes that allow them to focus on small adjustments for each client. As part of our commitment to personalized attention, all clients have their own personal Pilates reformer and barre station. The goal is to teach the basic science behind muscular development, modern kinesiology and cardiovascular health. Enjoy a body conditioning routine to help you build flexibility, muscle strength, and endurance in the legs, abdominals, arms, hips, and back. With a focus on spinal and pelvic alignment, breathing, the development of a strong core or center, and the improvement of coordination and balance, our PBX® system allows for different exercises to be modified in range of difficulty from beginning to advanced. Even better -- you can boost the intensity of your workout over time as your body conditions and adapts to the exercises. Every class focuses on the PBX® motto of STL: strengthen, lengthen, and tone. It's time you achieve those long, lean lines for an overall sculpted physique.



The Experience

We guarantee you've never had a workout quite like this before. Our experienced and trained PBX® instructors will guide you through the use of modern reformers and props to ensure you are engaging the correct muscles. From group classes to private sessions, this isn't your typical gym. Come prepared to sweat, tone, and engage your muscles for the ultimate in heart pumping exercise that goes beyond the expected. We have a variety of classes to meet your skill level and needs, from basic courses showing you a deeper understanding of technique to high-intensity cardio circuit training. The PBX® method is a perfect place to reach your goals. With classes PBX® combining the best of Pilates, barre, and modern kinesiology, we give you the tools to achieve the body you've always wanted. Through our effective resistance training program, you can find the right level for you for the results you crave. Depending on the class you take, you can improve your core conditioning, endurance, balance, and alignment. Sculpted core definition...cross training...cardio circuit training...we have it all. What class should I start in?

Every client new to PBX: Even if you have done pilates in the past at other studios, this will help you learn the cues and sequencing that we use as part of the PBX® method. Trust us, you will be challenged…that is the PBX® way! Basic is our slowest-moving class and ONE is for beginners who want to be challenged, Barre, Core Jump and Circuit are our All-Levels classes. We want to ensure that you enjoy your experience in every class held at PBX®. PBX Endurance is the only class that is not recommended for your first class; approval is needed before joining.

Does the thought of joining a group PBX® class make you anxious? Not to worry: book a private appointment to get one-on-one attention. 

How do I sign up for a class?

Register with our online system MindBody Online. Create an account and fill out all of your information. Click on “class schedule,” and the class you would like to attend. We do require that you pay for your class at the time of registration. We cannot hold spots for clients who have not pre-paid. We encourage you to sign up before the class to ensure a reformer or place at the barre is reserved just for you! Use our mobile app for easy sign-up on the go.

What do I need to bring with me?

We require everyone to wear socks with non-skid bottoms. We sell these at the studio, or you can bring your favorite non-skid socks with you.

Please bring a water bottle with you. There is also a filtered water fountain available.

Wear comfortable clothes to be able to move freely. We advise women to wear crops or long leggings. Men, please wear compression shorts underneath athletic shorts.

What should I leave at home?

Cologne or perfume, as some clients are allergic.

Ringing cell phones: please respect everyone's right to pilate in peace.

Germs: if you are sick, please cancel your registration and stay home. Your body needs to rest!

Children: we do not have an area for children to be supervised while you are taking a class. We do have a wonderful partnership with nearby Right Time Kids drop-off childcare which gives you a discounted rate while you take a class. 

How long are classes?

PBX® classes are 50 minutes long. This allows for cleaning of the machines, questions for the instructor before the next session starts, and transition to the next class.

Why do I have to wear non-skid socks?

This allows for optimum sanitation for the hand and foot straps which cannot be wiped down. It also allows for safety standing on or next to the machines.

What happens if I need to cancel my class?

We have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancel your class registration on our scheduler 24 hours ahead of time of your class. If you cancel within 24 hours, you will lose the class. Please always update your cancellations using the online scheduler.

Unlimited Package members: if you cancel 24 hours in advance, you will be charged $10. This is to ensure that clients who register come and do not hold a spot on a machine from another client.

Single Classes and Class packages need to cancel their registration or private appointment 24 hours in advance. If within the 24 hours of the class or session, the cost of the session will be lost.

Come to class and see your body change!

Age Limit

We require all group class participants in class to be 18 years or older. We can accommodate those under 18 years of age in private sessions.

Pre and Post Natal Clients Class Recommendations

1st Trimester: Barre, One, Basic

2nd Trimester: Basic and Private Sessions

3rd Trimester: Basic and Private Sessions

Post Natal: Basic and Private Sessions

*PBX has the right to refuse entry to class if the instructor feels the class does not suit the clients needs and safety during their associated trimester.  Clients will be refunded for the class cost or can exchanged to accommodate for private sessions.
